SOAPSTONE

Silestone by AMC offers SOAPSTONE by Cosentino. Soapstone is sedimentary rock, quarried from the earth like marble and granite, made of a variety of minerals, primarily talc. Its mineral composition gives it a soft feeling to the touch and its hard and dense composition is highly resistant and nonporous. Absorption occurs only on the surface of the stone. It has a very unique look and no two pieces may look the same.

Advantages

It provides the beauty of granite and marble without the hassle because its non-porous characteristics make it non-absorbent and hard to permanently stain. It does not require sealers. Just simply apply mineral oil to give it a darker and more distinctive appearance. Stains and scratches are easily removed with fine sandpaper. And it is extremely heat resistant.

Soapstone is fast becoming a very popular choice with designers and architects because it fits extremely well with a traditional rustic look but it also compliments modern contemporary designs.
